Gavin Esler
Gavin Esler is an award winning television and radio broadcaster, novelist and journalist. He is best known for presenting BBC 2’s Newsnight, and was also a regular anchor on the BBC News Channel and on the BBC’s News at Five.
He previously served as BBC Chief North America Correspondent, in charge of shaping and directing coverage. He was accredited to the White House to cover both Bush and Clinton administrations, including the Lewinsky hearings.
Back in the UK Gavin presented Dateline London, the weekly international news discussion programme, and HARDtalk Extra for BBC World and BBC News Channel, as well as Four Corners for Radio 4. He received a Royal Television Society award for his reports on the military build up in the Aleutian Islands. He is also the author of a number of books including Lessons from the Top, How Britain Ends and many more.
